Sermon from 06 December 2020

Sermon Title: “The Story of Zachary”
Pastor: Doug Miller
Scriptures: Luke 1:5-27
Synopsis: Do you remember as a child what it was like enduring those days before Christmas? It was the anticipation that made Christmas, Christmas. Maybe it’s what happens in that waiting that’s the most important.

Sermon from 29 November 2020

Sermon Title: “The Story of Ruth”
Pastor: Doug Miller
Scriptures: Ruth
Synopsis: Do you remember as a child enduring those days before Christmas? That same dynamic is what made the first Christmas so extraordinary. For generations, men and women had been waiting anxiously for the birth of their Messiah, with no assurance that they would live to see him. They probably wondered, Is this really going to happen? After all, God has been silent for years.

Sermon from 22 November 2020

Sermon Title: “Faith”
Pastor: Doug Miller
Scriptures: Hebrews 12:2, 11:1-2 13-, Genesis 12:1-3, Luke 5:12
Synopsis:We all wonder. When we fix our eyes somewhere other than on God, wonder leads to wander. If you’ve wandered from the faith or are looking for the door, it’s not because of Jesus. You may think Christianity requires mind-numbing, experience-denying faith, but what if that’s not true?

Sermon from 15 November 2020

Sermon Title: “Time For Show And Tell”
Pastor: Doug Miller
Scriptures: John 13:36-38, John 14:1-11
Synopsis: We wonder because our frame of reference doesn’t provide us with all of the answers. Every version of religion works for children. But then life happens. We experience challenging circumstances that sow doubt in our childhood faith. Tragedy causes us to question if God is good and loving. Sin leads to guilt and shame. We wonder if God can really love us. Is there such a thing as a frame of reference that can accommodate a grown-up faith?
