Sermon Title: “Understanding The Bigger Picture”
Pastor: Doug Miller
Scriptures: Genesis 15:1-6

Synopsis: God’s plans are so much bigger than the ones you and I have made. In fact we don’t fit God into our plans, we fit ourselves into God’s plans. God has a plan. It is to build a nation that is in rhythm with Him and to become a light to all nations. As we learn today, Abraham did not have children. It was a curse in that day not to have children. Abraham wanted God to bless him with children. But God had this bigger plan, to build a nation. God uses Abra-ham in His plan to build not only a family (for Abraham) but this incredible nation. God is not a genie or a vending machine to assist us with our plans. He is way bigger than that according to the scriptures. So it wasn’t about Abraham, it was about God using Abraham to bring about His plan. The same is true with us as we relate to Jesus. If we are going to follow Jesus, we need to fit into His plan and not visa versa. We need to go to God to seek His plans not seek God out to bless our plans.

Sermon Title: “Thank God I’m not like…”
Pastor: Linda Maifair
Scriptures: Luke 18: 9-14

Synopsis: The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. Scripture proclaims or teaches something in one place. Then proves or illustrates it in the lives of real people somewhere else. Then, if we are open to being taught, God shows us how it applies to us today. “Two men went up to the temple to pray,” the parable begins. “One a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.” Which are we?

Sermon Title: “Abraham’s Journey: The Journey Begins!”
Pastor: Doug Miller
Scriptures: Genesis 12:1-6

Synopsis: Today we begin a lengthy study of the life of Abraham, “The Father of Many Nations.” As we move through this series we notice Abraham was not really what we might think is the ideal guy through which God would work. But through Abraham’s faith and God’s great patience, God did do miraculous things. This first week, we will discuss Abraham’s call from his home land and into a new future. Abraham had to leave his gods, his culture and his family to obey the voice of God. What do you think would be the hardest of these things for you to be called away from? What idols were present in Abraham’s life that God may have had to move Abraham away from and what idol might be in your life? Join with us as we consider the idols around us and how we might begin to rid ourselves of them.
